The EthioCan community is gearing up for an inspiring afternoon of creativity and connection with “Stitching Stories,” a unique cultural and wellness event taking place this Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Centre for Social Innovation, 720 Bathurst Street, Toronto.

Led by visual artist Emebet Belete, the session invites participants to learn the art of crochet — no experience required. The initiative is part of Belete’s ambitious project to cover Belleville’s Upper Front Street Bridge in crochet, a public art installation that symbolizes unity and collective creativity.

Joining the gathering is Chachi Tadesse, a renowned artist, entrepreneur, and humanitarian whose dynamic career adds depth to the event’s conversations about art, identity, and well-being.

Beyond the crochet hooks and yarn, Stitching Stories will offer a warm space for open dialogue on mental wellness, guided by experts in informal discussion circles. Attendees will also enjoy a free lunch and a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, blending culture, community, and care into one rich experience.
